Providing Fresh Produce

GROWN FROM NOTHING

In 2019, the land the community garden now sits on was nothing but an overgrown area in North Port St Joe where a garden was once grown. With the help of the community, the land was cleared of weeds, garden beds were built from reclaimed hurricane lumber and planting began. Since that time we have been able to run water to all the beds ensuring proper irrigation all year round. Our garden beds quickly fell into disrepair due to aging lumber and we are now in the process of rebuilding all our beds with new, pressure treated lumber. We want to thank all who have donated lumber so far this year.

Today, we have several fruit trees, a corn plot, raised beds for growing vegetables, an herb garden, trellises for vining plants and an in ground growing area. You can join in our mission to provide the community with fresh produce by contacting us for volunteering and for donations to help with maintenance, planting, organic fertilizing, distribution and so much more. As the community need continues to grow, so will our garden. Your pledge of support will help us continue to grow for generations to come.

OUR GARDENS PURPOSE

Year after year our community need for food has grown. With this growing need, we have a year round shortage of fresh produce to serve all those in need. Our goal is to help provide fresh produce to our community and help improve the health and nutrition of our friends and neighbors. We hope that you will join us in our quest to relieve food insecurity in our community and provide our friends and neighbors with healthier meals.

NUTRITION & HEALTH

Proper nutrition enhances your quality of life and leaves you overall feeling better. We strive to provide the freshest, most healthy produce possible. We use all organic methods to grow our produce so you know it is not only loaded with nutrients but also tastes far better than chemically grown fruits & vegetables. This allows those that receive our product to worry less and enjoy more.

YOUR DONATIONS MATTER

Due to your continued support, the community garden will continue to grow and serve more people with fresh produce. We accept one time donations as well as scheduled monthly contributions to help maintain and expand the garden. We are so grateful to have your support all year round. And don't forget, your donations are 100% tax deductible as we are a registered 501c3 organization.

Organic Vegetables

As of August, we have 5 completely rebuilt raised beds almost ready for planting. As we work our way through the coming months, we will be completing weed suppression in the existing soil in the beds and topping them with rich, locally sourced, organic mushroom compost.

We have 3 permanent trellises that will grow vining vegetables. We will be adding raised beds beneath these to promote better plant growth in the future. We plan to add several more of these self designed trellises by spring so we can grow a wider variety and have larger harvests for our community.

Much help will be needed as well as donations so that we can build up to 10 new raised beds throughout the fall and winter. As these beds are completed, they will be lined and filled with compost. If you would like to sponsor a bed, please reach out to us as we are actively seeking individual and corporate sponsors.
